Opportunities and Resources for Recycling

Bridging

The Prior Lake Rotary Club and the Prior Lake Lions Club will sponsor a Bridging event on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Twin Oaks School Parking lot, 15860 Fish Point Rd. SE in Prior Lake. Bridging is the collection of usable household items for those in need. Items may be deliver at time and location. The Rotary may also pick up some items in Prior Lake, Spring Lake Township and Credit River Township. Call (952) 447-1330. There is no charge to donate items to Bridging; however, only certain items are accepted. Please check with Bridging at (952) 447-1330, or www.bridging.org.

Buckingham Disposal

Buckingham operates a local recycling center at 5980 Credit River Rd. Recycling hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday Evenings 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. (April-November); Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit the Buckingham Recycling website.

Hazardous Materials

The city does not collect household hazardous waste (paint, antifreeze, oil) at Clean-Up Day.  To dispose of hazardous waste, please contact Scott County Environmental Health at (952) 496-8787 or www.co.scott.mn.us.

Scrap Metal Recycling Center

This facility, 8094 Excelsior Blvd. in Hopkins, will purchase all ferrous and non-ferrous metals from businesses and residents. There are no weight minimums and very few restrictions on items. For information, call (952) 516-6066.

Best Buy offers drop off for recycling of most consumer electronics at every store, every day. Two items per household per day. Nearly everything electronic, including TVs, computers, DVD players, monitors, or cell phones. They charge $10 for TVs under 32”, CRTs, monitors and laptop, but give a $10 Best Buy gift card. April City Curbside Recycling Event

During April the City of Prior Lake and Certified Recycling team up to provide the Curbside Recycling Event for Prior Lake residents. The city's past, single-day event will no longer take place to save taxpayer dollars and to make the event more resident friendly.

Certified Recycling is hosting the 2011 Curbside Recycling Event for all Prior Lake residents. There is no longer a single-day Recycling event in Prior Lake. There is also no more waiting in lines, no more tying up your weekends and no more getting the car dirty. Nominal fees apply and can be paid with any major credit card or check.

How to Participate
1. Schedule your pickup with Certified Recycling at (952) 894-1448 or info@certifiedappliance.com now through April 25.
2. Place the recyclable items at the curb on your scheduled day in April.
3. Certified Recycling will pick your items up from your address.

What will Certified Recycling accept?

Acceptable recyclable materials include appliances, electronics, tires, furniture, batteries, power equipment, propane cylinders and scrap metal. If you have something not on the list, contact Certified Recycling, as they will likely accept it. 

What will Certified Recycling NOT accept?

The company will not collect yard waste, demolition material or household garbage. Please call your local garbage collector.

What will it cost to have items recycled?
