Significant road improvements are planned for 2008 to the City's most heavily traveled roads including County Rd. 12, County Rd. 21, County Rd. 42 and County Rd. 82 (see below for specific information).

County Rd. 12 was completed last fall and the final lift of asphalt and restoration will be completed by July 2008. A section of County Rd. 12 will close Monday, April 21 from 2547 Spring Lake Rd. to about 600 feet west. The road will not have any official detour signage and work will be complete in about four weeks as weather permits.

County Rd. 21 underwent reconstruction and widening in Prior Lake. In the spring of 2008, the contractor will return to complete the sod placement, permanent turf establishment and finish sidewalks. The final lift of asphalt and restoration will be completed by July 2008.

This work is in Savage, east of Glendale Rd. into Burnsville. The north half will be reconstructed first. All traffic will be shifted to what is currently eastbound County Rd.42. There will be two lanes of traffic in each direction, but the lanes will be narrow. Once the traffic switch is made, the pavement on the north side will be removed, followed by storm sewer installation, subgrade excavation, and then placement of the new roadway section. Once completed, all traffic will be switched to the new roadway while the south half is reconstructed. It is anticipated to take approximately three months. Any questions or comments concerning this or any highway projects, email Dakota County Transportation Department or phone (952) 891-7900.

The reconstruction of County Rd. 82 is taking place from County Rd. 17 to County Rd 21 in Prior Lake and part of Shakopee. Work has been substantially completed from County Rd. 21 to 500 feet west of Howard Lake Rd. NW. County Rd. 82 is open from County Rd. 21 through County Rd. 17, including County Rd. 83 to Mystic Lake. Construction from Howard Lake Rd. to County Rd. 17 is planned for the spring, and the posted detour will be reestablished. This project is expected to be completed by July 2008.
