2011 County Road Construction

This year Scott County will focus on projects on Prior Lake’s northern border with Shakopee. The county is initiating work on County Rd. 83 and the County Rd. 21 extension. Together these projects cost $34.5 million.

The county will also begin the construction of the County Rd. 21 extension from County Rd. 42 to County Rd. 18. Ultimately, the County Rd. 21 extension will include four travel lanes, turn lanes and bituminous trails along both sides of the corridor. Because of the large scope and massive amount of earth movement, this project will require three years to complete. Work in 2010 will include tree removal, earthwork and city utilities. Federal dollars will help fund this roadway extension, and the county is pursuing stimulus dollars for this project.

In coordination with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, City of Shakopee and Scott County, the portion of County Rd. 83 from County Rd. 42 to County Rd. 16 will begin construction. This is a two-year project and will include construction of four travel lanes, turn lanes and bituminous trails. Work will be completed while the roadway is open to traffic; however, some travel delays can be expected during various phases of construction.
