Caucuses Results from Feb. 5 for the Prior Lake Area
Minnesota's caucus system is run by the individual parties and not by any city or county government; as a result, the elections results are also calculated by the parties. Below are the results as reported from the parties; click on the name of each party to get the results.
You can also get information about the caucuses by cliking on the the Minnesota Secretary of State website. Prior Lake is in Senate District 35 and Congressional District 2.

People wishing to register to vote may contact the Prior Lake Finance Department at 447-9840 to obtain a registration card by mail, or stop at City Hall, 4646 Dakota Street SE, to register to vote.
Eligible voters may register at their respective precinct on Election Day. To be eligible, individuals must have resided in Prior Lake at least 20 days.
Residents may vote absentee at Prior Lake City Hall or apply for an absentee ballot application by calling the City of Prior Lake at 447-9840.
Qualifications to obtain an absentee ballot are:
1. Absence from precinct
2. Illness or disability
3. Religious discipline
4. Service as election judge in another precinct
NOTE: The Prior Lake City Council adopted even-year elections in 2006 to save money, allow City elections to correspond with state and national elections, and allow more people to participate in the process. This year, and again in 2009, shortened terms will allow elections to take place on even numbered years beginning in 2010; thereafter, Mayor and councilor terms will each be four years.

The 2007 election was Tuesday, Nov. 6. There were 12,887 registered Prior Lake voters with 5,372 voting. That’s a 41.7% turnout.

Councilor Chad LeMair joined the City Council as an
appointee in 2002. In 2003 he was elected to a four-year
term, and in 2007 he was re-elected to a two-year term.

Councilor Steve Millar was elected in 2005 to serve a two-year term in office and was re-elected in 2007 to a three-year term. Councilor Ken Hedberg was appointee to a one-year term in January of 2007 and was elected to a three-year term in November of 2007. |

The 2006 General Election was Tuesday, Nov. 7. There were 13,853 registered (including new) Prior Lake voters with 8,901 voting. That’s a 64.3% turnout.
In comparison, in 2002 (the last non-presidential general state election), Prior Lake had 10,622 registered voters with 8,351 voting for a 78.6% turnout. In the last six non-presidential general state elections combined, the city averages a 66.7% turnout.
There were no city races in 2006.

Mayor Jack Haugen and challengers Cheri Dornbush, Warren Erickson and Steve Millar reigned supreme in the general election of 2005 held Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Haugen, running unopposed for his second term in office, garnered 1,516 votes.
In the race for two, four-year terms on the Prior Lake City Council, Cheri Dornbush and Warren Erickson unseated incumbents Jim Petersen and Joe Zieska. Randy Lentz, who withdrew from the race early on and did not campaign, ran a very distant fifth.
For the lone two-year term on the council, Steve Millar topped Jeff Evens, G. Bryan Fleming and George Victor. Millar will serve the final two years of the four-year term voters elected Andrea Blomberg to serve in 2003. Blomberg resigned in late 2004, and the council later appointed Fleming to serve through the end of 2005.
Citywide, turnout was 20.6 percent, with 2,591 ballots cast by the city's 12,553 registered voters. That was up from 18.9 percent in 2003, but far below the turnout of four years ago, when 33.2 percent of registered voters went to the polls.
