| FREQUENTLY ASKED ENGINEERING QUESTIONS |
When do I need a grading permit?
A grading permit, also called an excavating/filling permit, is required when greater than 500 square feet of surface area or 50 cubic yards of material is removed or deposited on your property. If you are grading in the shoreland area, a permit is required for removal or deposition of 10 cubic yards of material. For more detailed permit requirements, see Section 706 of the City Code.
When will my street be rebuilt?
Each year the City Council approves a five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Street reconstruction projects are identified in the CIP. City staff uses a Pavement Management System to determine which streets should be reconstructed or if other maintenance such as overlay or seal coating is adequate. To find out if your street is scheduled for reconstruction or overlay, call the Engineering Department at 447-9830. |
