Prior Lake's annual summertime Lakefront

Days celebration - July 28 to Aug. 3, 2008 - is six days of fun-filled activities that include large groups of people converging on beautiful Lakefront Park. Expect great summer weather and a festive atmosphere. For the latest information about Lakefront Days celebration, see below of visit the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce website.

"Explore the Park"

Tuesday, July 31 to Sunday, Aug. 5

The Lakefront Days Medallion Hunt clues are posted on our homepage. The winner gets to be in the parade and receives $200.

 Tuesday,  July 31  

The Business Expo, Wine Tasting is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and a Silent Auction ending at 8:15 p.m. are under the big tents at Lakefront Park. Come early and get a bite to eat. Tickets are $10 from Viking Liquor Barrel (corner of County Rd. 21 and Hwy. 13) and $15 at the door.

Proceeds from the auction go to Saturday night's fireworks.


 Wednesday, Aug. 1 

A Family Fishing event is at 4 p.m. at Little Prior, the fishing pond near the entrance Lakefront Park. Rods and reels are provided. Come early to grab a bite to eat at the food tent while you fish.

The second annual Kiddie Parade is sponsored by YMCA and is for kids under 10. Decorate your bike, tricycle, wagon and come on out. Pre-registration required at the Chamber of Commerce website.

Inflatable Games are from 5 to 9 p.m. Buy a $5 wristband for unlimited access.

A Family Fishing event sponsored by the City and the DNR is at 4 p.m. at Little Prior,

Motorcycle Cruise registration is $5 and begins at 5 p.m. The first 150 registrants receive a custom made Lakefront Days Motorcycle Cruise pin. The cruise leaves Lakefront Park at 6:30 p.m. for a scenic 45-minute cruise in Scott County.

Canine Carnival is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Canine Discovery will have demonstrations throughout the evening and a professional photographer can get a picture of you and your four-legged companion.

The second annual Texas Hold 'em Tournament registration starts at 5 p.m.


 Thursday, Aug. 2 

The City of Prior Lake Ice Cream Social starts at 6 p.m. and will include dinner for a dollar and free ice cream. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to the bandshell for performances from the Splatter Sisters (6 p.m.), Premiere Dance Academy (7 p.m.) with demonstrations from the Prior Lake Police and Fire Departments.

The fifth Lakers Hall of Fame Induction Banquet is at 5:30 p.m. at the Wilds Golf Club. Dinner and induction ceremonies will follow. Call Prior Lake High School for more information at (952) 226-8600.  


 Friday, Aug. 3 

Note: There is no parking in the park this day except for car cruise participants. Instead, take the Laker Lines Free Shuttle Bus Service.

Friday's events include Bingo, Remote Control Speedway Racing and Inflatable Games.

The Teddy Bear Picnic and Story is at noon at the Prior Lake Library.

The fifth annual Lakers Hall of Fame Golf Tournament starts at 7:30 a.m. Call Prior Lake High School for more information at (952) 226-8600.

The 12th annual Classic Car Cruise at Lakefront Park begins at 5 p.m. with $5 registrations. The cars will leisurely drive around Prior Lake, leaving the park at 6:45 p.m. and returning at 7:30 p.m.

The 5th annual Non-profit Food Tent to benefit community programs opens at 4 p.m. and includes six non-profits.

The entertainment tent features Steve Millar and Diamondhead from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Fireworks at 9:40 p.m.


 Saturday, Aug. 4 

Saturday's events include Bingo, Remote Control Speedway Racing and Inflatable Games.

The City of Prior Lake and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community are co-sponsoring the second Dakotah! Sport and Fitness Lakefront Days Triathlon in Cleary Lake Regional Park at 8 a.m. A 1/4-mile swim at Cleary Lake Beach is followed by a 16.5-mile bicycle loop through city and county roads and a 3.4-mile run through Cleary Lake Regional Park. Registration is $75 and closes Friday, July 20 at www.Active.com. Visit the Dakota! Sport and Fitness Website for more information.

The Lakefront Days Parade begins at noon at St. Michael's parking lot, goes along Duluth Ave. to County Rd. 21 to Main Ave. to Lakefront Park.

The Entertainment Tent will feature Laker Idol from 2-7 p.m. and the X-Boys from 8 to midnight.

Kids Korner features games, crafts by the Pavilion from 2 - 6 p.m.

Taste of the Lake featuring local restaurants is from 2 p.m. to midnight.

The Waterski Show at Watzl's Beach is at 3 p.m.

Fireworks will be at 9:45 p.m. followed by the Family Movie at 10 p.m. at the Lakefront bandshell. The movie is "Happy Feet." Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the 15- x 20-foot outdoor screen. 


 Sunday, Aug. 5  

A Pancake Breakfast at Lakefront Park is from 9-11:30 a.m. Visit sponsor Integra Telecom for discount advance tickets.

The Annual Fishing Tournament sponsored by the Prior Lake Association and Captain Jacks is from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Prior Lake. Registration is at 10:30 a.m. Weigh-ins are at Captain Jacks.
