Prior Lake Public Beaches
The City of Prior Lake operates two swimming beaches on Prior Lake for the public to enjoy. Sand Point Beach and Watzl's Point Beach
offer sandy beaches and designated swim areas with concessions for sale most of the summer season.
The beaches typically open the second week in June and close in late August.

Sand Point Beach
Sand Point Beach is one of the most popular city parks in the summer. Located at 14349 Crest Avenue, next to the most-used DNR boat access to Prior Lake, Sand Point Beach is a great destination for swimmers, boaters and families. The beach offers two picnic shelters, play equipment, two sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a fishing pier, restrooms, concession sales, boat slips and canoe racks for rent. Canoes and paddles can be rented for $3 per hour from noon - 6 p.m. daily during the summer. You must provide an ID as a deposit.
PARKING: Parking is limited and fees apply Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from May to September. Parking is also allowed on the east side of Crest Ave. from the park entrance to Cedarwood Tr. The parking fee is $5 per car and $20 for a car with a trailer (NOTE: There are only 15 car-with-trailer parking spots), available on a first-come, first-served basis. Season parking passes for cars only are available at City Hall for $25 resident, $50 non-resident. Arrangements for parking for groups of 20 or more must be made at the Recreation Department. Bus parking is $20 per day.

Located in Lakefront Park, 5000 Kop Parkway, Watzl's Point is a popular stop for lake users. Reaching the beach requires a short hike from the parking areas in Lakefront Park and is easily accessible from the lake. There is no fee to use Watzl's Point Beach. Amenities include restrooms, boatslips, picnic tables and concessions which are open from noon - 5 p.m. (Monday thru Friday) and noon - 7 p.m. (Saturday & Sunday).
PARKING: There is no charge for buses at Watzl’s Beach. Arrangements for parking for groups of 20 or more must be made at the Recreation Department.

All large youth groups must reserve a block of time to use Prior Lake Beaches during regular park hours (no charge for adult chaperones). There is a $20 bus fee at Sand Point Beach. Youth groups NOT following the reservation procedure and guidelines will not be admitted.
There are two park shelters available for reservations at Sand Point Beach and one shelter at Lakefront Park. Groups over 25 can reserve a three-hour block of time, free of chare with group beach reservation requests Monday – Friday only (shelter reservation is based on availability).
