LOCATION: Police is located at 4649 Dakota St. SE in downtown Prior Lake.

GUN PERMIT APPLICATION FORMS: Documentation must be submitted to your issuing authority: Prior Lake residents applying for a permit to purchase a handgun must submit an application with the Prior Lake Police Department. Citizens applying for a permit to carry a handgun must submit an application to the Scott County Sheriff's Office. Many other restrictions apply.

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The men and women of the Prior Lake Police Department are dedicated to providing the highest level of police service to its community. The department believes its work has a vital impact on the quality of life in the community and strives to achieve a balance between enforcement and the needs of the community. It is committed to the values of integrity, impartiality and professionalism in the performance of its duties. The department's goal is to keep Prior Lake a safe and great place to live and visit.

The police department provides the emergency services that protect the community. In addition to its day-to-day responsibilities, the police participate in drug prevention and safety training with area youth in the following programs: DARE, Neighborhood Watch, Operation Identification, Night To Unite, the Safe & Sober program and Emergency Management.

The Police Department is committed to providing safety within the City of Prior Lake and on parks and trails. Through a special purchase program, the city purchased a clearly-marked Harley Davidson police bike for monitoring trails and providing traffic enforcement within Prior Lake.
