Park Maintenance
Rink Flooding Schedule
The Parks Department typically starts flooding the rinks Dec. 7-15. Between Dec. 7 and Jan. 4, the maintenance crews flood at night from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. the following day to
avoid the times when the kids are typically on the ice. The rinks usually close for the season around Feb. 15. The entire schedule is weather dependent and could vary from year to year.
Tree Trimming Schedule
Trimming is done in the fall and winter months. Crews will post notices in the neighborhoods at least 24 hours in advance of the tree trimming operations. This is done to notify the area residents and allow them time to call the city with any concerns or issues.
Park Herbicide Schedule
Maintenance crews apply a majority of the herbicides to the city parks in the spring. The city posts warning after herbicide application is complete to make the park patrons aware that herbicide was placed on the grass and also specifies the date when it is safe to enter the park. City crews also do a fall application as needed.
Keeping it Clean
To help keep the parks and trails beautiful for years to come, the city has created two programs
relying on assistance from volunteers within the community: the Adopt-a-Park Program and the Memorial Tree and
Bench Program. By clicking on the program, you can download a PDF brochure explaining the specifics of the program and how to get involved.
