Buckingham logoSPRING CITY-WIDE RECYCLING EVENT RETURNS FOR 2016

Buckingham Companies and the City of Prior Lake are again hosting a springtime recycling event for Prior Lake, Spring Lake Township and Credit River Township.

The 2016 event will offer curbside pickup available Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 29, 2016, for residents of Prior Lake, Spring Lake Township and Credit River Township. To schedule a pickup, call Buckingham at (952) 226-6441 before April 28. A nominal fee will be charged for pickup and disposal. See a list of sample prices here. For prices on other items, please call Buckingham directly. Payment can be made by cash or check at the time of pickup, or with a major credit card over the phone when you schedule your pickup.

Acceptable Materials
Acceptable recyclable materials include appliances, electronics, tires, batteries, power equipment, propane cylinders and scrap metal. Click here for a more complete list. If you have something not on the list, contact Buckingham, as they will likely accept it.

The company will not collect furniture (Bridging accepts useable donations - see below) or hazardous waste such as paints, oil, anti-freeze, fertilizer, etc. Scott County accepts some of these materials as household hazardous waste (see below).

SHAKOPEE MDEWAKANTON SIOUX COMMUNITY (SMSC) COMPOST SITE 2016

Residents can drop off wood free of charge (non-treated wood products, including logs, brush, and lumber) at the SMSC Organic Recycling Facility (ORF). There is a minimal fee for yard waste (except as stated below) including grass clippings, leaves and sod. Hours of operation: April 1 - Nov. 30, Monday - Saturday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Dec. 1 - March 31, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Every Sunday during the months of April, May, September and October, residents of Scott County can drop off yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, sod, brush, branches, and logs less than 10 feet in length) FREE of charge at the SMSC Organic Recycling Facility (ORF) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The ORF is located 1.4 miles north of County Rd. 42 on County Rd. 83 at 1905 Mystic Lake Dr. S. (formerly named Canterbury Rd.) in Shakopee. Look for the “Organic Recycling Facility” sign on the east side of County Rd. 83. Plant waste is accepted including leaves, grass clippings, sod, brush, branches, and logs less than 10 feet in length. The SMSC ORF will accept waste for a minimal disposal fee year-round. The Prior Lake Rotary Club and the Prior Lake Lions Club will sponsor a Bridging event on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lunds parking lot, 16731 Highway 13 in Prior Lake (corner of Duluth Ave. and Hwy 13). Bridging is the collection of usable household items for those in need. Items may be delivered at time and location. The Rotary may also pick up some items including larger items in Prior Lake, Spring Lake Township and Credit River Township, call (952) 447-1330. There is no charge to donate items to Bridging. Buckingham Disposal
Buckingham operates a local recycling center at 5980 Credit River Rd. Recycling hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday Evenings 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. (April- November); Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit the Buckingham Recycling website.

Scott County Household Hazardous Waste Facility
The city does not collect household hazardous waste including paint and stain, pesticides, automotive chemicals, household cleaning chemicals, fluorescent lamps and tubes, electronics, appliances, automotive tires and batteries, etc. To dispose of hazardous waste, contact the Scott County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 588 Country Trail East (MN Hwy 282) in Jordan, Minn. (Spring Lake Township). Phone: (952) 496-8787. There is a fee for dropping off residential or business electronics, appliances or tires for recycling.
