The Future of Prior Lake
1.
In 100 words or fewer, describe your ideal vision for Prior Lake in the next 20 plus years.
Ed J: Have a redesigned downtown. More access to the lake for people who don't live on the lake. And finally, build the new hockey facility on the land that already has been approved.
Dan S: Increase the number of public boat access points for Prior Lake from two to at least four, lobby MN/DOT to upgrade Hwy. 13 through downtown, maintain and up-grade neighborhood parks (they are as important as Lakefront Park), and encourage lake-front business development (restaurant / entertainment). Prior Lake should be the focus of our city and we should maximize its utilization for all residents to enjoy, yet preserve its natural eco-system and keep it healthy. Man and nature should be able to live harmoniously if we are responsible.
Tom M: My idea vision for Prior Lake is one where we value and respect our natural resources and the wishes of the community by being fiscally responsible.
Jayme: I personaly think "the old small town look" is a theme that not many towns have and building new things will just make the small town feel vanish. It's bad enough that we have so many people living in this town as it is, so why would we want to attract more attention. I and many others like the way the town looks and feels. We don't want to be the next "big" city.
Dave E: The perfect Prior Lake would be a city that you would not have to leave for entertainment. The downtown would grow just enough to draw people for an evening ice cream cone and still be economically strong. Maybe one high-end restaurant on the lake. A place I can feel safe taking a walk at 10:30 p.m. like I do today.
Adam D: Keep it a small-town feel. Attract unique businesses to downtown Prior Lake; to attract more people to downtown, keep as much Section 8 housing away from Prior Lake as you can. Less crime equals less money spent on fighting it. Make sure Prior Lake is spending there money wisely and not wasting it.
Richard K: I would like to see more epmphasis on financial efficiency in local government to give residents better financial security and lower taxes. I believe the 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan document was significantly coopted in the area of financial goals by staff edits and does not reflect the public's views at large.
Therese: The reason people come to Prior Lake is because of the "bars." How sad is that? Do we need more liquor in Scott County? I would like to see something family oriented. This lake is way over populated in the summer, and with alcohol mixed, it looks like an accident waiting to happen. Bowling/Theatre or something magical for children is what I would like to see for this town.
