Downtown Mural Fully Funded

The City of Prior Lake is thrilled to announce that the Downtown Mural project has been fully funded! As our first #PLWorthIt public art initiative, this has been far more successful than we could have anticipated. Our sincere thanks to the following organizations, businesses and residents for their support of this public/private partnership: Nuvera, Prior Lake Optimist Fund, Rotary Club of Prior Lake, The Buckingham Companies, Blahnik, Prchal & Stoll PLLC, LAKE BuOY, The Bill & Hilaria Sheehan Family, The Martinez Family, The State Bank of Fairbault, and Liz Baarlaer, Virginia & Carter Wagner.

Special thanks to the Steven & Greg Martinez family for their generous 1:1 contribution match which invigorated this campaign and helped us reach our goal prior to December 31!

The City of Prior Lake Economic Development Authority, in partnership with Nuvera, has commissioned a local artist to create a downtown mural for installation in 2020. This magnificent mural captures the legacy and landmarks representing Prior Lake on a section of the Nuvera building (4690 Colorado St. SE) facing County Road 21.

Greg Preslicka, of The Big Picture, has incorporated historic elements such as the Grainwood Resort, the water slide, and the trestle bridge, as well as present day Watzl’s Beach, water activities, and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community into the mural design.
