Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser Sets New Record

Thank you, Prior Lake, for helping the Police Department raise over $3,000 for Special Olympics.  During the Jan. 7 Tip-A-Cop event, $3,084 was raised in three hours and is the most they have raised in the five years doing the event at The Pointe restaurant.

Tip-A-Cop is a law enforcement fundraiser where officers serve as celebrity waiters at restaurants and donate all the tips they receive to Special Olympics, a program that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Fifteen local Special Olympic athletes were in attendance while the Chief of Police, eight Prior Lake officers and six Scott County Deputies served 360 meals. The Tip-a-Cop event has raised approximately $15,000 in five years. In the summer of 2019, they held the event at Charlies on Prior and raised over $3,700.

The Prior Lake Polar Plunge event, another law enforcement fundraiser for Special Olympics has raised over $1,439,000 in the past 11 years. This year’s event will take place on Feb. 15, 12 p.m. at Sand Pointe Beach. To register or donate visit the Polar Plunge website.
