Prior Lake Police Partner with Local Organization to Replace Some Tickets with Vouchers

Everyone knows the dangers cars can create when their headlights, tail lights, brake lights or turn signals are broken. Now, police can write a voucher instead of a ticket for faulty lights. Drivers can then redeem the voucher to have their lights fixed at a local auto repair shop.

The new program called “Lights On” was started by MicroGrants, a local organization that gives cash grants through existing partner agencies who are already working with low-income people. The police deliver good news, the driver doesn’t have to pay for a ticket on top of a repair and the community is safer, everybody benefits.
