A Message from Chief Hodges

The women and men of the Prior Lake Police Department are dedicated to providing our residents and visitors with public safety services that are honorable, truthful, respectful, and responsible.  We are grateful for the support our community gives us and we firmly believe as Sir Robert Peel stated in 1829 that “police are the public and that the public are the police”. Our department is a full service law enforcement agency providing police service for the City of Prior Lake and our partners at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community which encompasses Mystic Lake Casino. Should you need our services please don’t hesitate to contact us.

                                      Your Interim Chief of Police,

                                      Booker Hodges

REPORTING A CRIME
To report a crime – or for non-emergencies – call dispatch at (952) 445-1411 or visit the Prior Lake Police Station at 4649 Dakota St. SE in Prior Lake.

Call 911 for all emergencies.

BACKGROUND CHECKS
It is important to feel secure about the people with whom you enter into relationships. The news media provides frequent examples of individuals who take advantage of such relationships. In situations where individuals are in, or being offered, positions of trust, especially with vulnerable individuals, use the Prior Lake Background Check Guide as a tool in making an informed decision.

SPEED LIMITS
MN. Statute 169.14 establishes statutory speed limits on most typical roadways under ideal conditions. All other speed limits are set by the DOT Commissioner based upon an engineering and traffic investigation. The Office of Traffic, Security and Operations (OTSO) administers the speed limit program and determines the policy and practices to execute such studies. The district traffic offices perform the studies. In general, Mn/DOT follows the guidelines for determining safe speeds as prescribed by the National Institute of Transportation Engineers.
